About the app

What is Amazon GeoScout?

GeoScout is an application used by Amazon Field Quality Associates, who are Amazon employees. They visit addresses where Amazon deliveries have been unsuccessful and record what is actually there — for example a hard-to-find gate, a building entrance in the wrong place on the map, or an incorrect access code.

The app provides the day's route, navigation to each address, and the forms used to record the survey and attach photographs. The corrected information improves delivery at those addresses.

Who can use it?

GeoScout is not a consumer application. It requires an Amazon employee account to sign in, and an assigned route in Amazon's geospatial systems before it will show any work. Downloading it without both of those will not give you a usable app.

Which devices does it support?

iPhone, on iOS 17 or later. The app is not built for iPad.

Signing in

I can't sign in with my Amazon account

Sign in using your Amazon employee account. If sign-in fails repeatedly, check that your device's date and time are set automatically — a clock running ahead of real time causes sign-in to be rejected, and the app warns you when it detects this.

I signed in, but the app says I'm not authorised

This means your account is not yet set up as an operator in the system that assigns work. Signing in again will not change it. Ask your manager to have you added.

I signed in, but there is no itinerary

Either no route has been assigned to you yet, or there are no routes available at your station today. The app tells you which. In both cases your manager is the person who can resolve it; pull down on the list to refresh once they have.

Using the app

The app asks for my location and won't continue without it

GeoScout needs precise location to guide you to each address, to confirm you have arrived, and to attach an accurate coordinate to the survey you submit. A survey without an accurate coordinate is not usable, so the app cannot run without it. If you previously declined location, enable it in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security, and make sure Precise Location is on.

Navigation is sending me somewhere that looks wrong

Correcting exactly that kind of error is the purpose of the work. Record what you find on the survey form so the record can be fixed.

Why does the app use my location when it isn't on screen?

Turn-by-turn guidance has to continue while you drive or walk with the screen off, which is why background location is requested. It is used for navigation and for the coordinate attached to a survey, and for nothing else.

Can I add photographs from my photo library instead of the camera?

Yes. You can take a new photograph or choose an existing one.

My survey won't submit

Submission needs a working connection. If you are somewhere with poor coverage, try again once you have signal. If it still fails, report it using the details below so the logs can be checked.

Getting help

Who should I contact first?

Your manager. They can confirm your route assignment and your operator setup, which together account for most cases of the app showing no work.

How do I report a problem with the app itself?

Email field-collection-experience@amazon.com. It helps to include:

Where can I find the privacy notice?

See the GeoScout privacy notice, which describes what the app collects and how it is used.
